The employment of disabled people

These statistics give a detailed analysis and break downs of the number of disabled people in employment.

Summary estimates of the number of disabled people in employment are published regularly by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) as part of their ‘Labour Market Overview, UK’ series. This publication presents more detailed analysis and break downs of those summary estimates.

Changes to the statistics

The latest release of statistics (published on 5 November 2024) includes new data on:

  • those economically inactive due to long-term sickness by ethnicity
  • quality of work indicators
  • the average wellbeing scores for disabled and non-disabled people in and out of employment by various characteristics
  • flows of economically inactive students into employment by disability status
  • the inclusion of long-term sickness absence tables
