Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP)

A series of announcements and publications relating to the trade negotiations between the European Union and the United States.

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a free trade agreement currently under negotiation between the EU and the USA.

The government meets with representatives from industry, consumer groups, trade unions, non-governmental organisations and other civil society groups on a regular basis to update and consult them on the on-going negotiations.

Latest on the negotiations

The European Commission regularly publishes information on TTIP, including EU negotiating texts and updates after every negotiating round.

Potential impact of TTIP

The UK government and the European Commission have commissioned independent economic analyses and explained the potential impacts of TTIP.

Public concerns

The government and the European Commission are also responding to public concerns.

The European Commission has publicly responded to concerns that TTIP will affect the way the NHS is run. A letter from the EU chief negotiator can be found on the European Commission website.

How Parliament is involved

The UK Parliament is updated regularly on developments, through the European Scrutiny Committees of both Houses. The House of Lords launched an enquiry into TTIP and has reported their conclusions and recommendations.
