Consultation description

This consultation is to seek views on the government’s proposals for the abolition of Food from Britain. This Defra sponsored Non-Departmental Public Body promoted UK food exports between 1983 and 2009.

Food from Britain closed its operations in March 2009 and no longer functions as a public body, but the legislation which established it is still in place. The government proposes to repeal this legislation by means of an order under the Public Bodies Act 2011, enabling Food from Britain to be formally dissolved in law.
