Detail of outcome

We received 119 online consultation responses, with over 250 representatives attending consultation events. This exercise resulted in broad support for what we proposed but raised issues about the practicality of a small number of proposals. The consultation also highlighted areas where further guidance was desirable to encourage a consistent national approach.

Consultation description

This consultation seeks views on proposals to amend the Children’s Homes Regulations 2001 (as amended) (‘the Children’s Homes Regulations’), with a related amendment to the Care Standards Act 2000 (Registration) (England) Regulations 2010 (‘the Registration Regulations’), and a minor amendment to the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 (covered at paragraph 12) (‘the Fostering Services Regulations’).

The amendments are necessary to improve collaboration and partnership between children’s homes and services in their local communities so that there are effective safeguards in place for the vulnerable group of children relying on residential care.
