Detail of outcome

We recognise that introducing a code of conduct would be a significant step for both the private security industry and us. We will now consider in more detail whether a code of conduct is a proportionate regulatory approach, and what impact it might have on the private security industry. We will also consider how, if introduced, it would work in practice.

Detail of feedback received

We received 3,853 responses to this consultation. The majority of responses (98%) were made by existing SIA licence holders.

Consultation description

We need to be sure that any code of conduct we introduce is useful, realistic and covers the right behaviours. This is because we will publish the final code of conduct as part of our licensing criteria. When we do, it will become compulsory for all licence holders and licence applicants to follow the code.
