Detail of outcome

As we proposed in our consultation, we have decided to:

• merge ‘vocational and other qualifications quarterly’ (VQ quarterly) reports with ‘annual qualifications market report’ (AQMR) to produce a new annual qualifications market report
• publish the new report annually
• continue publishing General Qualifications (GQ) dataset annually
• continue publishing VQ datasets quarterly and introduce supporting headline statistics every quarter for vocational qualifications

Detail of feedback received

This consultation sought feedback on our proposal to merge these 2 statistical bulletins into a single, consolidated report of qualifications for both general and vocational qualifications. There were four responses to the consultation. Two were from awarding organisations, and 2 from other representative or interest groups.

Respondents were generally in favour of the proposed changes, and made some comments on how Ofqual can maximise the usefulness of the statistical releases to users.

Consultation description

This consultation seeks feedback on our proposal to merge 2 statistical bulletins published by Ofqual: vocational and other qualifications quarterly and annual qualifications market report. We propose to amalgamate the 2 current statistical bulletins into a single, consolidated report of qualifications for both general and vocational qualifications. The resulting publication will provide a more comprehensive picture of the trends in qualifications in a given academic year. We believe that it will be more useful to our readers in understanding the developments in the area of qualifications and market shares of awarding organisations.
