Consultation description

The Ebbsfleet, Northfleet and Swanscombe area has the potential to create new homes, and provide opportunities to live and work.

At Budget 2014 the government announced the creation of a new Urban Development Corporation to develop plans for a new garden city at Ebbsfleet, Kent, capable of providing up to 15,000 new homes. The government is also making available up to £200 million of infrastructure funding to kick start the development.

It is important that local people and businesses have an opportunity to express their opinions on the proposal to create the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation. The consultation invites views on the creation of the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation, the area in which it will operate, its planning powers and the composition of its Board.

An interactive map is available to view the proposed boundary of the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation in more detail.

The consultation will run for 8 weeks and responses should reach the department no later than midday on Monday 6 October 2014.
