On 27 March 2017 the Secretary of State announced her decision to approve a stretch of the England Coast Path in Cumbria around Walney Island.

Consultation description
On 26 September 2016, Natural England submitted a report to the Secretary of State for the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) setting out our proposals for improved access to the Cumbrian coast on Walney Island.
The opportunity to comment closed on 21 November 2016. You can no longer make a representation or objection.
All representations and objections will be considered before the Secretary of State makes a final decision about the report.
