Feed-In Tariffs Scheme
Read the full outcome
Detail of outcome
Having considered the feedback and evidence, government has decided to close the export tariff alongside the generation tariff. This means that the scheme will close in full to new applications after 31 March 2019, subject to the time-limited extensions and grace period detailed in this response.
Government has also decided to bring the net costs of metered export into the levelisation process. A detailed response on the replacement of generating equipment will be published in due course.

Consultation description
The Feed-In Tariffs (FITs) Scheme is the government’s subsidy scheme for generation of renewable electricity from small-scale low-carbon installations.
This consultation sets out a proposal to close the export tariff alongside the generation tariff on 31 March 2019, which would mean full closure of the FITs scheme to new applications after 31 March 2019.
It also seeks views on proposed scheme administrative changes. An impact assessment accompanies the consultation.
