The Environment Agency and the Office for Nuclear Regulation have completed their Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of the UK HPR1000 nuclear power station.
They concluded that it is capable of meeting high standards of safety, security and environmental protection and is suitable for construction in the UK.

We received 52 responses:

We have published the responses without editing them, where we were given permission to do so.
As a result of the points raised we may amend our preliminary conclusions. And if so, we will update our assessment reports.
For points raised outside of our responsibilities, we will pass a copy of the consultation response document to the appropriate organisation for their consideration.
The consultation response document does not contain our response to the points raised. This will be in the final decision document.

The Environment Agency has completed its preliminary conclusions following detailed assessment of the environmental aspects of the UK HPR1000 new nuclear power station design.

Updated the consultation outcome to reflect that the Environment Agency and the Office for Nuclear Regulation have completed their Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of the UK HPR1000 nuclear power station. They concluded that it is capable of meeting high standards of safety, security and environmental protection and is suitable for construction in the UK. Published version 2 of the Independent dose assessment of General Nuclear System’s UK HPR1000 which includes minor amendments of clarification.
