I am emailing with regards to your research that examines how public funds can be used most effectively to support the mobility needs of disabled people.
I work for a charity and our clients frequently use Motability. The points below reflect the difficulties we have come across:
- They don’t use Motability scheme as financially can’t afford to give up their Motability component.
- Lack of insight from people with a disability that they can drive or be driven.
- Vans have a large deposit, hard to find funds.
- Lack of confidence around finding the most appropriate vehicle for longer term use.
- Once car/vans found that suit the individual change is not favoured.
