Consultation description

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is seeking to apply a new Indefinite Direction under Section 28 of CROW to exclude open access designation for the purposes of defence at Sealand Ranges on the Dee Estuary.

The documents explain the justification for the Direction including a map of the proposed Section 28 Direction area, additional information and glossary.

Background information

Section 28 of the CROW Act allows the Secretary of State for Defence to exclude or restrict access by direction to any land if this is felt necessary for the purposes of defence or national security.

A Direction can be made indefinitely or for short and long term periods. All Indefinite Section 28 Directions must be reviewed every 5 years.
