Consultation description

This document invites comments on the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government’s proposals for the future data collection and production of the land use change statistics.

Land use change statistics reports changes of residential address numbers - addresses that change from or to a residential use (address-use changes) and their location. It also reports the area of land changing use (hectarage changes) and the location of these changes.

Based on previous user engagement work, we believe that there is a role for a broader land use statistic that quantifies and categorises the developed environment and the split between developed and non-developed uses, not just the in-year changes between these uses.
