Consultation description

This consultation sets out proposed changes to the regulations and guidance that govern the constitution of governing bodies in maintained schools and federations of maintained schools in England.

The principles underpinning the majority of the proposed changes were subject to a short targeted consultation with members of the department’s Advisory Group on Governance (AGOG) in July 2013.

In response to this targeted consultation, a number of the department’s current proposals are for amendments to statutory guidance rather than changes to regulations.
