Detail of outcome

This outcome document is the formal notice under section 11A(51) of the Transport Act 2000 of the Secretary of State’s decision to modify the licence granted to NATS (En Route) plc (NERL) dated 28 March 2001.

The modification extends the licence termination notice period from 10 years to 15 years. The modification will take effect 28 days after publication of this notice on 25 October 2021.

Consultation description

The proposed changes to extend the NATS (En-Route) plc licence termination notice period from 10 years to 15 years will further the duty of the Secretary of State for Transport to:

  • promote efficiency and economy on the part of NATS En-route Limited (NERL)
  • secure that NERL does not find it unduly difficult to finance activities authorised by its licence
