Detail of outcome

The government’s proposed scheme design was published in the New Home Bonus consultation on 12 November 2010 which set out the details of the scheme and the rationale for the proposed mechanisms. It also set out how the scheme sits within the wider context of the government’s locally driven growth strategy.

The consultation was largely technical and aimed primarily at local authorities. We received almost 500 responses in total. A full list of respondents can be found at Annex A of the summary document.

This consultation seeks views on the implementation of the New Homes Bonus - which will provide a powerful, simple, transparent and permanent means of incentivising local authorities to increase their housing supply.

This follows the coalition agreement to provide incentives for local authorities to deliver sustainable development, including for new homes and businesses.
