Consultation description

The Chancellor announced at Autumn Statement 2014 that the government will introduce a new tax relief for orchestral performances. This consultation document sets out the details of the proposed tax relief and seeks views in key areas of its design.

This new tax relief will recognise the artistic importance and cultural value of British orchestras. Its objective is to support orchestras so they can continue to perform for a wide range of audiences. This new relief will be available from April 2016.

Views are invited from a wide range of respondents including individuals, companies, and representative and professional bodies. The government especially invites comments from orchestras themselves and from those working directly in the orchestral sector.
