Consultation description

Authorised Professional Practice (APP) is the official source of professional practice for policing and we have now developed APPs to provide guidance for the minimum standards for the use and care of police dogs and mounted units.

The police dog APP sets out the legislation relevant to caring for and deploying police dogs, as well as the training and accreditation required. The mounted police APP sets out requirements for the training of mounted officers and provides guidance on the deployment of mounted assets and planning options associated with these deployments in public order and public safety events.

Have your say on the proposed APPs in the consultations.
