Consultation description

The Pubs Code came into force on 21 July 2016. It requires:

  • fair and lawful dealing by the largest pub-owning businesses in relation to their tied tenants
  • that tied pub tenants should be no worse off than if they were not subject to any tie

The Pubs Code Adjudicator (PCA) may investigate where there are reasonable grounds to suspect a breach of the code and impose sanctions for a breach.

The consultation seeks views on the PCA’s draft guidance on how it will investigate and enforce breaches of the code. We encourage stakeholders from across the pubs industry to respond.
