We used the responses to the consultation to help update the impact assessment and we are seeking to implement the proposed legislation as soon as possible.
Detail of feedback received
This was a UK-wide consultation aimed at those with an interest in the recreational marine industry, including:
- manufacturers
- importers
- distributors
- retailers
- consumers
- government departments
- enforcement authorities
- trade associations
Around 110 stakeholders with a known interest were contacted by email and specifically invited to respond. We received 4 responses.

Consultation description
The Directive is a revision of current legislation, ensuring that recreational and personal watercraft meet essential health and safety requirements. It includes environmental requirements for engine exhausts and noise pollution. A copy of the directive is available on the EUR-LEX website.
The government is seeking views from stakeholders on the UK implementation of this directive, including:
- manufacturers
- distributors and importers of recreational craft and personal watercraft
- notified bodies
- trade associations
- enforcement authorities
