Consultation description

People can claim a Funeral Expenses Payment (also known as a Funeral Payment) if they’re on a low income and need help to pay for a funeral they’re arranging.

This set of reforms is designed to clarify eligibility and make the process for claiming Funeral Expenses Payments simpler. Each of these reforms has been developed in consultation with figures in the funeral industry, or in response to public correspondence.

All members of the public can respond. We’d particularly value views from those who have experienced bereavement, and those who have accessed Funeral Expenses Payments in the past.
