Consultation description

This consultation is seeking views on how we intend to assess the environment impact of the new Rural Development Programme in England.

To undertake the Strategic Environmental Assessment, we are consulting with English Heritage, the Environment Agency and Natural England on ‘the scope and level of detail of the information’ that is likely to be required. We also welcome views from others who have an interest in the Rural Development Programme.

The RDPE provides money for projects to improve agriculture, the environment and rural life. There are separate rural development programmes for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

We are separately consulting on the overall shape and focus of the new Rural Development programme as part of a wider consultation on the implementation of the Common Agricultural Policy.
