Consultation description

This consultation seeks views from companies producing medical technologies and diagnostic products about sharing their sales volume data for publication in the NICE Technology Appraisals in the NHS in England (Innovation Scorecard).

The Innovation Scorecard is a quarterly publication that provides information on the uptake of NICE-approved innovative medicines and medical technologies in the NHS in England. It is commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care and published by NHS Digital.

Medical technology is a growing sector, with turnover growth of 1.8% per year over the past 5 years and employment growth of 9.5% per year, but we have insufficient information on uptake.

Making information available in the scorecard about the availability of innovative products will help raise awareness of these products across NHS organisations, helping improve their access for patients.
