Consultation description

The Department for Transport is seeking views on Sir Peter Hendy’s re-plan report (PDF, 2.3MB) about putting the rail upgrade programme on a more realistic and sustainable footing.

The Transport Secretary is minded to accept Sir Peter Hendy’s report, subject to a period of consultation to ensure:

  • the most efficient and effective plan is executed
  • maximum value is derived from the plan for passengers, freight users and taxpayers

All responses will be considered before the Transport Secretary reaches a decision on whether to accept Sir Peter Hendy’s plans for re-profiling the rail enhancements portfolio.
