Consultation description

The consultation seeks views on whether economic regulators should be added to the scope of the growth duty provided for in the 2015 Deregulation Act. The Act put in place requirements for specified regulators and regulatory functions to have regard to the desirability of promoting economic growth when carrying out their core functions.

The consultation asks for views on the inclusion of the economic regulators (Ofgem, Ofwat and Ofcom), the impact on the regulator’s activities and evidence of impacts to regulators and businesses, as well as whether there are alternative means to improve growth outcomes.
