The government has carefully considered the feedback received from all individuals and stakeholder groups as part as the finalisation of the storm overflows discharge reduction plan.

Detail of feedback received

The consultation received 21,831 responses from individuals and key stakeholder groups including water companies, charities and consumer organisations. Customers served by all water and sewerage companies in England were represented amongst the respondents.

We want to know what you think about new government targets to tackle the issue of sewage discharges.

The government is introducing new targets to eliminate ecological and public health harm from storm overflows. The consultation will set out details of how the government expects water companies to achieve these targets.
