Detail of outcome

The government has decided to postpone the transfer of commissioning responsibility for morbid obesity surgery services to 1 April 2016.

The proposals for the transfer of commissioning responsibility for renal dialysis services will be referred back to the Prescribed Specialised Services Advisory Group. This group will give updated advice on the transfer to Ministers. Further decisions on this transfer will be made once updated advice is received.

Consultation description

We want to know what type of support clinical commissioning groups (CCGs) will need from NHS England to be able to commission these 2 services safely and effectively. We are also asking whether the transfer should happen from 1 April 2015, if we can put that support in place.

The results will be analysed and used to inform decisions on when and how the transfer in commissioning responsibility should be made.
