Detail of outcome

A further consultation revisited aspects (damages and private actions) of this, ‘Damages for breaches of competition law: implementing the EU directive’. A government response to that consultation was published in December 2016.

Other aspects of the consultation will be considered under the current Competition Law Review, the findings of which will be published in April 2019.

Consultation description

The laws, institutions and powers that cover competition and anti-competitive activities are collectively known as the competition regime. The current regime was put in place 2 years ago. We’d like to hear your views on further reforms to reduce the burden on businesses and encourage faster decisions.

The consultation considers technical and procedural changes as well as ways to improve the regime for consumers and businesses. It will be of particular interest to UK businesses, consumer groups and competition lawyers.
