Update to Green Finance Strategy: call for evidence
Detail of outcome
In 2022, we issued a call for evidence to support the development of an updated Green Finance Strategy. It asked stakeholders a range of questions to provide:
- an evaluation of the existing policy framework
- gather evidence on where future government policy could support industry to deliver on their ambitions
This call for evidence, and a series of associated stakeholder engagement roundtables and workshops, provided an accurate and timely picture of the policy issues most pressing to market participants.
We received 134 responses to this call for evidence from a wide range of stakeholders, including:
- financial institutions
- companies
- trade associations
- local authorities
- non-governmental organisations (NGOs)
A summary of the evidence and feedback is found in chapters 2 and 3 of the 2023 Green Finance Strategy.
Original call for evidence
Call for evidence description
The 2019 Green Finance Strategy set out a comprehensive approach to greening financial systems, mobilising finance for clean and resilient growth, and capturing the resulting opportunities for the UK.
This consultation seeks views and evidence from stakeholders to support the government in developing an update to the Green Finance Strategy, planned for publication in late 2022.
The updated Green Finance Strategy will take stock of progress so far and set out how the UK can better ensure the financial services industry is supporting the UK’s energy security, climate and environmental objectives.
