Feedback received
Detail of feedback received
This document summarises the responses to the Senior Traffic Commissioner’s proposed revised statutory document on vocational driver conduct. We received responses from a mixture of enforcement and regulatory bodies, trade associations, operators, government, trade unions, safety groups and individuals. A breakdown of respondents is included.
There was general agreement that:
- the revised document will help to ensure a consistent regulatory outcome for drivers who commit infringements
- the proposed balance between cases handled by staff and those handled by traffic commissioners was about right
- all disqualifications committed in a commercial vehicle should be referred to the traffic commissioners
- the use of case examples is a welcome addition to the document
The responses received will inform development of the final revised statutory document.
The Senior Traffic Commissioner is grateful to those who participated in this consultation.
