Board of Women's Sport
The Board of Women’s Sport brings together experts, academics and national governing bodies to look at existing and future opportunities to support women's sport.
Role of the group
The Review of Women’s Football highlighted the lack of active, formalised cross-sport sharing of best practices and innovation around issues that impact elite female athletes across the sports industry.
The review recommended that government convene a Board of Women’s Sport to look at some of the prevalent issues facing women’s sport more broadly, and facing female athletes. The board aims to connect relevant leaders from across women’s sport to enable a shared vision to support women and girls in sport, and look at both existing and future opportunities to help women’s sport continue to grow.
Membership
The Board of Women’s Sport is chaired by the Minister for Sport and Equalities.
Each meeting will include standing member representatives, as well as rotating members. Rotating members will likely join a series of board discussions, depending on the theme, to ensure expertise is captured and there is consistency of collaboration.
