The Data Advisory Board is the senior public sector board responsible for driving the better use of data in government.

By providing senior oversight, and by delegating responsibility to relevant delivery partners including the Data Leaders Network and the Analysis Function, the Board is accountable for:

  • the governance of the National Data Strategy

  • agreeing a set of strategic priorities for government’s use of data

  • overseeing and driving the delivery of these priorities

  • tackling the key cross-cutting issues that continue to be a barrier to the effective use of data

The Board is Chaired by the Chief Executive of the Civil Service, and is attended by senior leaders from central government departments and other relevant public sector organisations, as well as external advisers invited by the Chair.
