Department for Transport Capital Review Panel
An advisory panel which provides independent advice to the Secretary of State for Transport on strategic considerations for the department’s capital portfolio.
Background
The Secretary of State for Transport announced an internal review of the Department for Transport’s capital portfolio in July 2024.
The panel is made up of independent experts from industry, academia and civil society, whose participation is voluntary and not remunerated.
The panel has been convened to provide strategic advice to inform the Secretary of State’s decisions on the department’s capital portfolio. It has no formal legal status and as such is not set up under the Cabinet Office guidelines for public appointments.
The panel is supported by a secretariat within the Department for Transport.
The proceedings and discussions of the panel, and its advice to the Secretary of State, are confidential to the department and the panel. Any decision to make the panel’s conclusions public shall be for ministers in consultation with the panel chair.
Membership
The Secretary of State for Transport appoints members from industry, academia and civil society with relevant expertise. The current members of the panel are:
