Green Jobs Delivery Group
The purpose of the Green Jobs Delivery Group was to act as the central forum for action on green jobs and skills. It has been stood down and the Office for Clean Energy Jobs will continue that work.
Update: 28 October 2024
The Green Jobs Delivery Group was an initiative under the previous government and therefore has been stood down.
We are building on the progress that the Green Jobs Delivery Group previously made by setting up the Office for Clean Energy Jobs. The Office aims to ensure the success of the Clean Energy Mission by ensuring that clean energy jobs are good jobs. A core part of this will be to engage key groups relevant to the clean energy sector workforce including trade unions, experts, and industry, among others.
Our email address is cleanenergyjobs@energysecurity.gov.uk.
The Office is considering how to ensure there is a route for industry to engage with Ministers, and will share further information in due course.
Through the Green Jobs Delivery Group, government, industry, the skills and education sector, local government and other key stakeholders will work together to set out clear plans to enable the UK workforce to deliver net zero and wider environmental goals.
Role of the Green Jobs Delivery Group
The Delivery Group will be the primary forum for government ministerial engagement with representatives from energy, education, local government, academia and wider sectors. The group will produce a Net Zero and Nature Workforce Action Plan in 2024, following a commitment in the Powering Up Britain Plan.
The Delivery Group and any working groups will engage with existing industry and government led groups where the remit covers green jobs and skills or has implications for the development of green jobs and skills to ensure alignment as required.
Membership
The Delivery Group is co-chaired by the Minister for Energy Security and Net Zero and Michael Lewis, Chief Executive Officer at Uniper Energy.
Membership of the Green Jobs Delivery Groups task and finish groups will be reviewed periodically to ensure that it is able to respond to and support government in meeting its strategic objectives for green jobs and skills.
