National Physical Activity Taskforce
The National Physical Activity Taskforce (NPAT) brings together government departments, the sport sector and independent experts to deliver coordinated and innovative policy that will help encourage people to get active.
Role of the group
The NPAT will monitor progress against the ambitions set out in the government Sport Strategy, ‘Get Active’ to drive participation in sport and physical activity, particularly in those groups where inactivity rates have remained stubbornly high. The taskforce will drive forward the ambition to see 2.5 million more adults and 1 million more children being classed as active by 2030.
Membership
The taskforce is co-chaired by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport or the Minister for Sport and former England and British Lions rugby player, Ugo Monye. Each meeting will include standing member representatives, as well as rotating members to ensure diverse representation from across the sport and physical activity landscape. Additionally, we will invite independent experts to present key data sets relating to future meeting topics.
