UK Advisory Forum on Ageing
The UKAFA aimed to improve the independence, health and wellbeing of older people.
The UK Advisory Forum on Ageing has now closed. The final meeting was held on 16 September 2015.
The government places great value on constructive and productive engagement with all citizens, including older people. We will continue to engage and consult with older people and stakeholders directly on our main policy areas through well-established channels.
Role of the group
The UKAFA looked at the opportunities and challenges of an ageing society. It ensured that the views of older people were heard and, importantly, responded to. It gave older people a direct line to government to comment on new policy ideas, services, legislation and other areas they feel the government should deal with.
Membership
The UKAFA membership was made up of representatives from organisations that work with and for older people, regional representatives from older people groups, devolved nations and government offices, and older people themselves.
