The minister is responsible for the natural environment and fisheries in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. Responsibilities include:
- natural environment and biodiversity
- fisheries
- flooding and water, coastal erosion
- national parks and areas of outstanding natural beauty
- access and rights of way
- land management and soil
- marine environment and inland waterways
