Battle Day

A series of commemorative events have been held in the Falkland Islands to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of the Falklands.

Always a well attended event, the annual 8th December Battle Day parade in Stanley was a busier than usual affair this year with a number of guests invited from overseas by the Falkland Islands Government. These guests included descendants of key players in the battle, such as Vice-Admiral Doveton Sturdee, Rear-Admiral Sir Christopher Cradock and Vice-Admiral Graf Max von Spee, in whose honour a new memorial was dedicated.
