24-hour road closure as part of M6 bridge work
Work to re-waterproof the M6 Hilton Lane overbridge between junctions 10a and 11 in Staffordshire starts on Monday 16 March.
Although there will be no impact on motorway traffic, Hilton Lane will be closed 24 hours a day until the scheme is complete on 30 June .
Traffic will be diverted along Cannock Road to the M6 junction 11 roundabout and along Warstone Road, or vice versa.
Highways Agency project manager Colin Jackson said:
A recent inspection revealed the waterproofing system on the bridge is coming to the end of its life so we need to take steps to ensure it remains watertight for a long time to come.
We will remove the road surface, safety barriers, kerbs and verge, apply the new waterproofing course and then put everything back again.
We advise traffic wanting to use Hilton Lane to allow extra time for their journeys and familiarise themselves with the diversion route.
