£6 million funding to turn smart materials into smart products
Smart materials that can clean themselves, change shape or respond to temperature changes could transform many everyday products.
Innovate UK and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) are looking to fund collaborative R&D projects that bring together businesses from all stages of the supply chain, from manufacturers to end users.
The funding is for industrial research projects to manufacture and exploit smart materials and develop smart products.
Projects must be collaborative and business-led. Business partners will attract up to 50% public funding for their project costs (60% for SMEs).
