90% of jobcentres now offer Universal Credit
Today, 16 more jobcentres will start offering the new benefit.
Over 364,000 people have now made a claim to Universal Credit, with over 10,500 new claims every week on average.
The new system is designed to ensure people will be better off in work and the latest statistics show that people on Universal Credit are finding work faster and earning more.
People claiming Universal Credit are significantly more likely to find employment than those on Jobseeker’s Allowance and for the first time ever, we are supporting claimants to earn more and progress in their careers.
Today (22 February 2016), single jobseekers will be able to claim Universal Credit in:

- Leighton Buzzard
- Dunstable
- Barry
- Penarth
- Jarrow
- South Shields
- Cramlington
- Blyth
- Bedlington
- Ashington
- Morpeth
- Hexham
- Alnwick
- Berwick
