A GREAT UK Day in Guatemala, a festival of British culture

The British Embassy held a festival to share the experience of UK culture with its gastronomy and art, in collaboration with British companies in Guatemala.

The British Embassy in Guatemala and the Department of Business and Trade (DBT), in collaboration with Librería Sophos, Fontabella, Little India, Mocca’s and the British brands Diageo, Land Rover, Mini, Penlon, Pernord Ricard, Sterifeed, Triumph, Twinnings, Tyrrell’s, Vitabiotics, Walkers, held a festival called A GREAT UK Day to share with Guatemalans the British culture and the UK brands that are present in Guatemala.  

A GREAT UK Day highlighted the incorporation of British brands into UK culture such as teatime, academia through innovation and use of technology in sectors such as science, health and automotive, its literature, and its iconic dishes and drinks.  

The activities that took place showcased some of the high-quality products that are available to Guatemalans in supermarkets, pharmacies, car dealerships and are in use in the country’s hospitals.  

In addition, the more than 350 participants were able to see the exhibition of MINI and Range Rover cars and Triumph motorbikes, enjoyed a costume contest with icons of British cinema and music, joined a Gin O’Clock session with Beefeater, played a trivia game, participated in a masterclass with Johnnie Walker and Tanqueray, and with Sophos they participated in a story tell Once Upon a Time in the UK: Stories for Great Britain Day as well as in a tea time Infusion of Letters in London with Twinings: The Best Tea Experience.  

The participation of Fontabella’s establishments and participating British brands allowed the more than 350 attendees to get closer to the UK and enjoy more of its culture, gastronomy and art.
