AAIB Special Bulletin: Bombardier CL-600-2B16 (604 variant), D-AAAY, uncommanded flap extension, 10 August 2022, in the climb after departing Farnborough Airport

A Bombardier Challenger 604 (D-AAAY) was in the climb after departing Farnborough Airport when it had an uncommanded flap extension, above the maximum flaps-extended speed.

A Bombardier Challenger 604, registration D-AAAY, had an uncommanded flap extension, above the maximum flaps-extended speed. The event occurred at 1640 hours on 10 August 2022, while the aircraft was in the climb after departing Farnborough Airport. The aircraft returned to Farnborough where it landed without further incident.

The investigation continues to focus on identifying the cause of the uncommanded flap extension.

The Special Bulletin contains preliminary information from the investigation. One Safety Recommendation has been made and four Safety Actions have been taken by the regulator and aircraft manufacturer.
