Ambassador presents business opportunities in Laos
British Ambassador Philip Malone gave a briefing to business representatives in London about the business environment in Laos.
Ambassador Malone was in London last week to attend the UK Foreign Office’s Leadership Conference which brings together all of the UK’s Ambassadors from around the world. Whilst there, Ambassador Malone gave a presentation on business opportunities in Laos at the UK/ASEAN Business Council (UKABC). The UKABC was launched in 2011 as part of the UK’s Trade and Investment Strategy “Britain Open for Business” and its role is to facilitate a step change in trade between the UK and South East Asia.
This was the first time the UKABC had featured a business briefing specifically on business opportunities in Laos. Around 30 business representatives attended and were able to hear first-hand from Ambassador Malone about the business environment in Laos, the current British business profile there and potential opportunities for business. Ambassador Malone also highlighted the key role of the European Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Laos in helping British and other European business to establish in the Lao market.
