Deputy Head of Mission David Pert attended the award ceremony and concert to mark the end of the Amul-Hazar rally in Avaza, on Turkmenistan’s Caspian coast. This was the first such rally in Turkmenistan, covering 1,850km of desert driving over six days.
He met the only British driver, Harry Hunt, driving for the Peugeot team, who finished second in his category. It was a punishing route, with only 59 out of 83 vehicles completing the course.
