The majority of these products are Prescription Only Medicines (POM-V), including euthanasia products and antibiotics, for food producing and companion animals. All are either UK authorised or held a valid import license.
These products had been stored in a way that affected their safety, quality or efficacy and included a significant number of expired veterinary medicines, ranging from 2002 to 2023.
There were concerns that these medicines were at risk of supply and administration which would breach regulation 7(2) – “No person may supply a veterinary medicinal product that has passed its expiry date.”
