Aircraft accelerated and struck a wire fence, Glassonby Airfield, Cumbria, 16 August 2023
This statement provides an update on the AAIB investigation into an accident involving a Magic Cyclone, G-KEVA, at Glassonby Airfield, Cumbria on 16 August 2023.
While preparing to take off, the pilot started the engine and the aircraft immediately accelerated and struck a wire fence at the side of the runway. The pilot was thrown out of the aircraft and sustained serious injuries.
The investigation has been completed and the AAIB will publish its investigation findings in a final report in September.
