Announcing appointment extensions of Jonathan Hall KC as Independent Reviewer of State Threats Legislation and Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation.
Today, the Home Secretary has announced the appointment extensions of Jonathan Hall KC as the government’s Independent Reviewer of State Threats Legislation and Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, for a further period of 18 months. Jonathan’s appointments will now run until November 2026.
Independent oversight of state threats legislation was introduced in February 2024 following commencement of the National Security Act 2023. The function of this role is to assess the fairness, effectiveness and proportionality of UK state threats legislation, and report their findings and recommendations.
Jonathan Hall KC will also continue in his role as the Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation, which he was reappointed to in March 2022.
Jonathan is a barrister in independent practice and a King’s Counsel since 2014. He has been involved in complex and high profile cases involving fraud, law enforcement, and national security.
