Passports and visas
Please check your passport and visa details:
-
British nationals don’t need a visa to travel to Spain; your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay, no additional period of validity beyond this is required
-
remember your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) but also take out travel insurance, even if you’re only going for one night - it could save you a lot of money if you get into difficulties
-
you must provide ID (your passport) if requested by a Police Officer; the Police have the right to hold you at a police station until your identity is confirmed
-
always take care of your passport, as obtaining a replacement is costly and time-consuming
Getting to the stadium
Here is the information you need on getting to the stadium:
-
for a map and further information about the location and transport to the stadium visit the FC Barcelona website
-
the advised route to the stadium is also the shortest from the ‘Maria Cristina’ and ‘Les Corts’ metro stations on Line 3 (The Green Line); this line has direct stops in ‘Liceo’, ‘Plaza Catalunya’, ‘Paral.lel’ and ‘Plaza de Espanya’
At the match
Advice for when you’re at the match:
-
fans will enter the stadium at 18:45 (e.g. Celtic fans are located from blocks A to D in the South stand and should enter through gates 46,50,51,52 on Travesera de Les Corts)
-
access to the stadium can be very slow, there will be ticket checks and body searches at the entrance to the turnstiles; to avoid a last-minute bottleneck at the stadium those attending are advised to get to the stadium early
-
access mentioned above will be open to Celtic fans at 18:45 two hours before kickoff
-
fans should obey Spanish Police instructions and avoid physical contact of any type (including requests to take photos etc.)
-
anyone who is obviously drunk or bearing racist insignia will not be allowed into the stadium; also, any banners bearing political slogans will not be permitted inside the stadium
-
no flares, fireworks, alcohol, cans, glass, bottle tops or containers over 0.5 litres are allowed in the stadium; soft drinks are available and can be taken inside
-
visiting supporters will be kept behind for around 30 minutes after the match to allow the home fans to disperse
Tips
-
large crowds are the favoured hunting grounds for petty criminals so be careful with your valuables; as in any other city beware of pickpockets and bag snatchers at airports, railway stations, around the town centre and when using public transport - only carry what you need, leave spare cash and valuables in hotel safety deposits
-
drinking in the streets in some areas of Spain is illegal, and you can be arrested for doing so
