Baroness Anelay visits Slovenia
Foreign Office Minister attended Bled Strategic Forum in Slovenia, to build support for Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative and discuss EU reform
On 31 August Baroness Anelay, FCO Minster of State, attended the Bled Strategic Forum (BSF) in Slovenia. The Minister moderated a panel discussion on progress since the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict in her capacity as the Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict.
On the sidelines of the BSF the Minister met with Slovene Prime Minister Miro Cerar to discuss deepening areas of cooperation between the two countries following Prime Minister David Cameron’s visit in June.
The Minister also met with Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec and expressed her gratitude for his support for the PSVI, particularly in the crucial Balkan region. The pair also discussed Slovenia’s support for EU and NATO policy on Russia and agreed that Russia needed to respect the sovereignty of Ukraine and that both the UK and Slovenia supported EU sanctions in this regard.
Following her attendance at Bled, the Minister travelled to Ljubljana to discuss EU reform with the Slovenian Interior Minister, Vesna Györkös Žnidar and Slovene MPs.
